4th Annual Congressional TriCaucus Minority Health Summit
November 17-18, 2006
CPMH convened with Members of Congress, community leaders, public health experts, citizens and
corporate neighbors at the 4th Annual Congressional TriCaucus Minority Health
Summit on November 17-18, 2006 in Washington DC at the Historic Investment
Building and the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. The
Summit addressed issues that impact the health and health care of ethnic and
racial minorities, such as Medicaid, Medicare, health
disparities, health information technology, and the reauthorization of the
State Children’s Health Insurance Program and the Ryan White CARE Act.

Los Angeles Community Health Forum
July 7, 2006
The Coalition to Promote Minority Health is launching its LA Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Communities initiative through a Community Health Forum, in collaboration with Congresswoman Hilda Solis, Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Health Task Force and other Congressional members. The Community Health Forum, entitled "Empowering Local Communities, Informing National Policymakers: A New Agenda to Address Health Disparities", will convene at the California Endowment's Center for Healthy Communities in downtown Los Angeles .
CPMH will present two concurrent sessions relating to obesity prevention -- Evaluating the Impact of Obesity & Other Chronic Diseases: Prevention Among Communities of Color and Designing Healthy Communities (both of which will focus on the need for, among other things, community education regarding nutrition and physical activity and increasing access to healthy lifestyles in underserved communities) -- and a "planning session" in the afternoon (2-4 p.m.) for structuring an action plan for the Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Communities Initiative. 3rd Annual Congressional Tri-Caucus Minority Health Summit
June 23, 2005
CPMH convened with Members of Congress, public health experts, community leaders and citizens at the Congressional Tri-Caucus Minority Health Summit at the University of Illinois in Chicago to address racial and ethnic health disparities in the areas of tobacco, obesity, blood stem cell transplantation, immigrant health, HIV/AIDS and environmental health. CPMH sponsored the summit with the American Legacy Foundation®, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and a consortium of health plans and associations that included America’s Health Insurance Plans, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Aetna, United Health Group and Wellpoint. At the close of the summit, CPMH threw a reception and dinner party for summit participants at the Chicago History Museum(formerly the Chicago Historical Society).
